[report] Snow @ Lake Tahoe!

Tue Jan 19, 2010, 7:45 AM

This started as an ambitious and crazy idea by Holy and Eririn, to shoot their SuFin cosplays in snow. Since we're originally from Taiwan and Hawaii, we are not used to being in and dressing for cold weather, so this was quite an adventure~
:snowflake: :snowflake: :snowflake:

We decided to make the pilgrimage via car from the Bay Area to Lake Tahoe and stay for the weekend. Eririn found us a really cute cabin that worked perfectly with our Santa photoshoot and holiday theme~! :santa:

This is the kitchen, where we shot the present exchange. The other rooms came lovingly decorated as well. :heart:

The flag and sniper photos (coming soon) were shot in the cabin's backyard. We needed to be cautious about neighbors and onlookers since Eririn and Holy were waving realistic rifles and huge Nordic flags around;;;

The snow was fairly slippery and got knee-deep in some places.

Holding hands was a good way to prevent slipping~ and it was cute to photograph. ^-^

Between shoots warming up was very important.
Of course keeping everyone warm and healthy was top priority!

:snowing:
It didn't snow during our stay, which I guess was for the best for the costumes and equipment. To make fake snowfall Eririn used a throw-snow-in-the-air method that worked surprisingly well, though it took a few tries to disperse it properly... sometimes there was wind and the snow drifted sideways and off-target;;

missed.. ^^;

Whee~!

For a change of location there was a nice snowy field of skinnier trees.

That beret kept trying to escape all day.

Eririn does photography, too~ :camera:

Lastly we rushed home and shot two more sets! It was a crazy day!! The sun had set by now so we were shooting under the backyard lamp. =__=; I really need to get more lighting equipment, nighttime shoots kill me.

Belarus! :stab:

Eririn wore this Ranka outfit, in snow! I was worried she'd freeze but she was totally fine and energetic~ such dedication!!

Thank you for putting up with the above teaser shots for now;; I still have a lot of photos that need polishing up~ Everything goes to my flickr, but I post the most successful ones here to DA.

And I have to hurry before it's not winter season anymore...;;

This photo shoot took my breath away. Not only were the results gorgeous, but I still have a hard time believing that you flew from freaking HAWAII and TAIWAN in order to do this!! O__o I mean, usually people fly to warmer places, not the other way around xD;

I am in awe of your dedication, it is truly moving! o.o

I looked through your SuFin folder on Flickr, too, and was blown away (again!) There seems to be no end to your talent! *_*

So yeah, I'll be watching you from now on, hope you don't mind terribly x3

Thank you so much for your compliments! I'm so glad you enjoyed the report and photos~ it was such a fun shoot I had to share (probably too much) behind-the-scenes things.

We are actually based in San Francisco right now so it was a several hour car drive, we're just originally from those places. ^-^; But yes it was definitely colder than we were used to.

NP thank you for watching also!

Haha yeah this had the best candids!
There are even more but it would be weird to post now,
maybe when the holidays come around again. XD
It's all the work of Holy and Eririn, they are pros at finding locations and organizing the outings. It was a real pleasure working with them~

:eager: Looks so fun! The coldest weather I was in was about 20ish degrees in Washington, back in my first year of college. Then more recently, I went to Japan two weeks ago. :D My first time! :w00t: It was kinda cold there sometimes, but mostly just in the 35-50 degree range. :nod: (I re-wore all my winter clothing from college time.)

Anyways.... :o That girl has a Canon! :D Just like me and my brother. :nod:

my god. Ranka Lee cosplay is epic, but must be freezing as hell since it's northern border.
